Dr. Ravinder Reddy, a San Diego resident, is a scholar/collector who has recently published an important book on an area of the Indic arts which is often neglected - arms and armour. These are not simply objects of war that exist in a self-contained, isolated world. They reside within a broader universe of historical memories, artistic sensibilities and belief systems. This book explores all these aspects. In his presentation, Dr. Reddy will focus on the decorative and symbolic aspects of arms and armour, and point out connections to the broader arts of the region.
